We need to talk about growth…

We need to talk about our differing understandings of what ‘growth’ means for our churches. We need to talk about the ways in which our work as theological educators, whatever our particular label or role, relates to evangelism and witness. We need to talk about the challenges and opportunities that a focus on growth creates. We need to talk about the effect it does have or should have on the work that we do. We need to talk about how our churches' growth agendas relate to our other priorities. And we need to talk about all this together, learn from one another, challenge one another, and inspire one another.

The 2017 Joint Conference is designed to be a space for all this, and more.

A full timetable and details of speakers will be available in due course, but the conference will include:

  • plenary presentations by Elizabeth Adekunle, Archdeacon of Hackney and member of the Archbishop's Evangelism Task Group, and Alec Ryrie, Professor of the History of Christianity at Durham University
  • a range of discussions and workshops on the conference theme
  • a chance to find out about the latest developments in practice and research from around our networks

Practicalities

The conference will start with lunch on Wednesday 12th July, and run through to lunch on Friday 14th. Accommodation is available for Wednesday and Thursday nights, and also for Friday night, for those who need it.

The conference will be held at Collingwood College, Durham, with some activities at Grey College.

This is a joint meeting of the Common Awards Staff Conference, the Theological Educators’ Network (formerly CAEIMT) conference, and the Continuing Ministry Development network.

Cost

The conference is free for Common Awards staff (all core and associate staff who are or expect to be involved in teaching or assessing Common Awards programmes in the designated Common Awards TEIs) and we are very grateful to the Common Awards team for hosting us. For other attendees, including members of TEN and the CMD networks who do not teach or assess Common Awards programmes, there is a charge for board and lodging.
